Jacobb and Ashley started playing music together in 2002 in an indie rock trio called "The Tables" in Boise, Idaho. They then continued to work together musically in a four piece new wave punk band called "The Murders" from 2004 to 2009 which lead them to working as a duo and began accumulating circuit bent equipment and instruments, Vintage synthesizers, fx boxes, and the like. Space Echo was also essential for what we were looking for. It was then that The Finer Points Of Sadism were born, based on an unused "The Murders" song title that Jacobb had penned a year prior. In late 2010, following a near death experience, Jacobb recalls hearing low hums and strange pitchy noises while almost dying from an overdose on over 40 Xanex. The world also went to a negative color several times as he experienced his closest brush with death. The noises and experience put The Finer Points Of Sadism on track somehow. The two consider what they do as being experimental music at the heart, as every aspect of their songs are created while experimenting with different frequencies, delay settings, arpeggiators on synths as well as circuit bent items. Much experimentation is incorporated, with the Atari 2600 game console beat machine, talking V-Tech, keytar and various other items to achieve their sound.
Their debut album "Deliberately" was released independently in 2011 and as a digital release on CDBaby and itunes followed by their second release "Suffering Without Credibility" which was released by netlabel Dreamdark in November of 2011. We are very proud to welcome The Finer Points Of Sadism to the Black Lodge Music family and offer you now their darkest effort yet "Fingers And Squirms".
